The Evansville Community School District is committed to creating a culture of excellence in academic achievement, character development, pursuit of arts, athletics and activities, community engagement, and highly-effective staff. To continue providing this quality of education within the community, the District began a long-term master planning process in early 2017.
In March 2017, the District surveyed staff regarding facility use and needs. Following that survey, the District began evaluating district facilities. Through July and August 2017, the District then formed the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), which was comprised of community members and tasked with identifying the District's best path for district-wide facilities and educational improvements.
Beginning in September 2017, CAC members reviewed the completed facilities assessment and explored solution options for the needs identified in the study. The District conducted a community survey in February 2018 to gain district resident feedback on the solutions proposed by CAC members.
In April 2018, after reviewing the survey results, the CAC made a recommendation to the Board of Education to address the District's most-pressing needs. In June, the Board adopted two referendum questions to be placed on the November 6th ballot.
