DISTRICT VISION, MISSION, OBJECTIVES AND GOALS
VISION:
Creating a culture of excellence in:
- Academic achievement

- Pursuit of arts, athletics, and other activities

MISSION:
The Evansville Community School District, in active partnership with families and the community, will provide a positive learning environment that challenges all students to achieve personal excellence and become contributing citizens of the world community.
OBJECTIVES:
- To learn skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- To develop good work habits, honesty, respect for others, responsibility and life-long learning, and the ability to get along with people with whom we work and live.
- To think objectively and analytically, and to use these skills in making decisions and solving problems.
- To help students discover their potential and develop a healthy self-image.
- To learn skills in mathematics and science.
- To gain knowledge about the world of today and yesterday, and develop respect for and understanding of other races, religions, nations and cultures.
- To develop academic skills needed by all students at graduation, whether continuing their education or entering the work force.
- To develop the ability to think creatively.
- To develop skills in computer science and other technology.
- To promote physical development and well being through a variety of experiences and opportunities.
- To develop an appreciation of the fine arts such as music, art, drama and literature, and promote participation in the creative and performing arts.
- To understand our political and economic systems, and promote participation in the political process.
- To promote self-confidence, mutual support and positive social interaction through a variety of co-curricular activities.
- To introduce concepts and provide instructional guidance in developing adult life skills in areas such as relationships, marriage, parenting, personal finances, use of alcohol and drugs, and productive use of leisure time.
- To develop career awareness and experience a wide variety of vocational areas.
GOALS:
District goals are established through the individual Continuous System Improvement Committees (CSI) on an annual basis.
