SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS AND NEW BOARD MEMBER ORIENTATION
The Evansville Community School District supports an election process that encourages engaged citizens to run for office to help ensure a high-quality education for all students. The district further supports the history of school boards, which were developed to maintain local control and encourage community involvement in the schools.
The district embraces those candidates who have sound judgment, an even temper, a willingness to collaborate and a sincere interest in public education with an emphasis on student well-being. Once elected, the board members must be committed to increasing their knowledge and understanding of public education and school governance and sharpen their leadership skills. The New Board Member Orientation is the first step to ensuring the success of all board members and optimizing district oversight and direction.
