Greetings parents of K-5 students,
I know what many of you are thinking: “Summer school?! My kids need a break from this virtual learning!” This may be true, but I think you will also be interested in the fun, creative, engaging, and hands-on educational classes our team has come up with for the three weeks in July. We plan on providing kits, supplies, ingredients, and more, to families to facilitate these unique learning opportunities. Furthermore, our goal is to allow kids to participate without a heavy burden on parents to have to facilitate it. Summer School will be no cost to families and there will be no fees of any kind.
Our virtual Summer School schedule is Monday through Thursday during the three weeks of July 6 – 24. We hope to have our registration information out to you with a complete list of all our course offerings within a couple weeks. Here is a sample of just a couple of the upcoming classes:
Kids in the Kitchen – No Bake Style: Kids will be able to follow along learning some relatively basic, yet delicious, recipes!
Simple Machines – DaVinci’s Battalion: We will be building functional wooden models (for example, catapults) each week while studying the six simple machines and their functions within each model.
Mo Willems Author Study – Geared for K-2 students, kids will read along with stories that come with activities such as ‘how to draw characters’, craft projects, and book making.
Careers R Us – This class will give students the opportunity to hear from different professionals, and they will have a mini project or piece of artwork to go with each profession.
I hope you and your families will be looking forward to our upcoming complete list of courses in a couple weeks. We will plan for easy drive-up materials/supplies pick-ups as part of this process. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at eversons@evansville.k12.wi.us or text/call me at 608-313-5174.
