1. Who is involved in conducting the facilities study?
- Answer: Bray Architects was hired by the School Board to conduct the facilities study. Bray will work with the Director of Building and Grounds, staff and administrators to collect facilities information.
2. Why was Construction Manager J.P. Cullen hired prior to the facilities study?
- Answer: The role of the construction manager (CM) at this point is to support the facility planning process by providing answers to specific constructability and cost questions regarding current conditions and potential facility options under consideration as the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) does their work. The CM is also there to provide overall input based on extensive experience with budgeting, bidding, and constructing K-12 remodels, additions, and new facilities both locally and around Wisconsin. The mixture of their knowledge, with the architects (Bray Architects) expertise, provides a balance, which should serve the CAC by providing the answers they need to make well-informed decisions as they consider potential recommendations they may make to the Board.
3. Why does the facility study include all building and grounds?
- Answer: When a facility study is conducted, it is common to review all buildings and grounds in a comprehensive manner so that there is a complete understanding of the condition of each building, the various school grounds and other possible needs across the District. This helps to determine possible solution options if necessary. A comprehensive view of the District will not only help with current needs, but also help with future long term planning.
4. What needs were addressed with the 2014 operational referendum?

5. Does the School District have a sense of what facilities needs already exist before the facilities study is completed and is there a predetermined plan to address those needs?
- Answer: The District has a general sense of some areas that need to be addressed for improvement, however, an extensive facilities study will provide the in-depth review of building and grounds that is necessary. There is no comprehensive plan for addressing needs at this time. Those plans will include input from the community and the CAC. The Board will then ultimately make decisions on how to address identified needs.
6. Are there Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) concerns that need to be addressed?
- Answer: The facilities study will show the ADA compliance concerns that exist in the District.
7. How can residents learn about the facilities study?
- Answer: News articles will be published in the local newspaper and on Facebook. Residents are encouraged to attend any CAC meetings that will take place throughout the school year. Residents can also go to the District website at ecsdnet.org for information.
