From Krista & Kyle Kasten |
My name is Krista Kasten. I live at 326 Garfield Ave, Evansville, WI. My husband, Kyle Kasten, and I were asked to review the proposed behavior matrix that board members will be discussing and voting on this evening. As members of the community with two students attending Evansville High School this Fall and two younger children in the Evansville Community School District, we would like to share our support for the proposed behavior matrix. Student behavior is an ever-evolving challenge facing schools and communities. The proposed behavior matrix clearly sets expectations and consequences for students and families to understand. Not only does the behavior matrix clearly state expectations, but also incorporates Restorative Practices protocol to ensure that students have opportunities to learn the impact of their behavior on others, themselves and, ultimately, learn about alternatives to negative behaviors that they can apply while at Evansville High School and as graduates. Teachers and administrators at Evansville High School need support from the Board of Education as major partners in educating the youth of our community, especially with regards to behavior. The proposed behavior matrix provides exceptional structure and support for all staff to respond to behavior, incorporating support and collaboration from parents or guardians, in order to educate students and prepare them for their endeavors beyond the walls of Evansville HIgh School. My husband and I are hopeful that you will adopt the proposed behavior matrix for this school year in order to support Evansville High School staff and students in a whole-child educational experience. Thank you for your time and continued support of the Evansville Community School district and greater Evansville community.
